Weekly roundup

Hey Everyone! Here’s what we have for you this week:

  • Visa and Immigration Updates: Updates on Italy, Japan and Romania.

  • Global Jobs and Companies: Sharing some of not-so-big names that are known for hiring and sponsoring visas.

Visa and Immigration Updates

This week’s big news

Italy-Japan Working Holiday

For any Italian and Japanese citizens out there, as of April 2026, there is now an agreement in force between the two countries that allows the citizens of each country to live in the other country for up to a year (and work for up to 6 months). Here’s to hoping more of these agreements pop up between other countries!

Romania Digitizes Visa Process for Non-EU Workers

Romania is overhauling it’s immigration framework for non-EU citizens by introducing a digitalized system (expected Aug 8, 2026) to replace traditional work permits. They have also lowered the quota for non-EU workers while at the same time aligning with EU-wide standards in an effort to attract highly skilled talent. It’s worth keeping an eye on these updates in Romania. More to come.

Global jobs and Companies

Whose hiring around the world

The Trade Desk: Sponsors visas and hires globally in data partnerships, sales, engineering and product management. Industry - advertising technology.

Booking.com: Registered in the Netherlands to sponsor visas and known globally as a great company to work for.

Rakuten: Known to sponsor visas, though I would check out some reddit posts like this one for the recommended ways to get into a company like this in Japan.

That’s it for this week!
